Paris Attacks Suicide Bomber's Mother Defends Son; 'He Didn't Mean To Kill Anyone'

Following the terrorist incident in Paris, the mother of the suicide bomber who instigated one of the eight attacks in the French city insisted that her son "did not mean to kill anyone."

Ibrahim Abdeslam, one of three brothers who were reportedly part of the Paris attacks, died on the scene, while his sibling Mohammed was arrested and then released by the French police. International authorities are still looking for the third brother, Salah. All of them are Belgian nationals, per Yahoo Parenting.

Their mother, Faklan, spoke with the Belgian media and said that she was certain that Ibrahim didn't plan on the deaths of the innocent victims. "The fact that his bomb belt exploded without killing anyone else says a lot," she said. When Ibrahim's bomb went off right outside the Comptoir Voltaire cafe, he injured a few bystanders but there were no other casualties other than himself. His mother believed that the suicide jacket her son was wearing may have been triggered by accident. She believed her son was under stress at that time.

"Maybe the explosives went off prematurely by accident. Maybe it was stress. We even saw him two days before the attacks. There were no signs that they had plans to do anything violent," said another relative, via the Yahoo report.

Many of those who knew the brothers were shocked to know of their involvement in the Paris attacks. They saw Ibrahim days before Nov. 13 and he showed no signs that he was planning anything. However, the family did confirm he was in Syria for a long time.

Meanwhile, Mohammed spoke to the media after his release from police custody Monday without any charges. "I and my whole family formally condemn all forms of violence. We are shocked by what happened in Paris," he told the press, per BFM TV. He also advised his brother Salah to surrender to the police. "The best would be to surrender so that justice may shed light on this story."

Mohammed admitted he's not aware where Salah could be hiding and he didn't know that he and Ibrahim have been "radicalized." He described his brother as a "highly placed" person who was not into violence.

"My parents are truly shocked. It was terrible for them. I have never had any problems with the justice system. I just want to be left in peace. I have been interrogated and cleared by the police," he told CNN.
