LG Electronics continues to find ways to keep abreast in the smartphone segment and hopefully their rumored plan to release a full-metal case LG G5 can help improve their standing.
With Apple and Samsung making their usual giant strides with their own line of smartphones in the market, LG isn’t exactly one of the top brands that would pop up in the mind of the consumer electronic buyer.
But if plans suffice, the LG G5 could be the Korean-based company’s ticket to such as they try to pick up from the key points that the LG G4 was able to carry.
With that said, it seems that the LG G5 will try to go head on with Samsung Galaxy S7 and the iPhone 6S, both of which come with standout designs which have made them standout from the rest.
Apparently that was the trend for this year, aluminum-clad smartphones which LG seems to be gearing at for 2016 starting with the LG G5 per reports from ETNews.
This year, the LG G4 debuted in April bearing an all-new design that was highlighted by an impressive main camera and a plastic back cover shell that could be replaced with genuine leather backs.
Unfortunately, that didn’t help LG as the company dealt with sluggish sales which eventually resulted in disappointing sales figures this year.
In a report from Android Authority, LG suffered an overall net income decline of 48% despite the fact that financial analysts were expecting better sales figures for the Korean company.
With that in mind, LG is hoping that the metallic-design case adaptation can steer them towards better figures. Obviously, they have their work cut out for them as they try to take on two popular handsets in the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the iPhone 6s.
The shift to the metal-clad casing is technically not something new. The LG V10, which launched earlier this month, featured a metal "dura-guard" frame that encased a large QHD display that was highlighted by a finger-print scanner.
As far as the LG G5 is concerned, we only have rumors to depend on for now until LG announces the official specs of the said device.
