'GoPro Hero 5' Release, Specs & Price: Overhaul In The Works? 8K Display, 60 FPS -- What To Expect [Rumors]

October came and went but GoPro failed to make any announcements about the actual release date of GoPro Hero 5. Per Market Watch, the company has been making errors in taking care of its flagship camera, which should've already followed up its GoPro Hero 4 release last Sept 2014. It's apparently affecting its stock market value.

Sources said that GoPro is actually overhauling its upcoming Hero line, hence the release date for 2016 remains undetermined. But there's a lot fans of the gadget can look forward to as specifications for "Hero 5" indicate that it could be its best model yet.

Latino Post reported that the new GoPro will likely come with an 8K resolution as well as better waterproof protection so that it's more enhanced as a camera for sports enthusiasts and people with active lifestyles. Hero previously had a 4k resolution that already made is users pleased with their photos and videos. But with the latest specs, images will surely come out crisper, clearer and more detailed. Video recording will feature 60 fps and the machine inside will be running with a powerful A10 chip.

Latinos Post reported that the improved resolution would also be good for deep dives at around 60 meters. The gadget could also come with a dive housing unit for better access and reach underwater.

Master Herald reported that GoPro Hero 5 will be smaller and lighter so that it mounts on helmets and other surfaces more securely. In fact, its size may be cut down in half compared to previous versions to better suit active users' requirements.

Speaking of smaller cameras, Ecumenical News noted that the company actually just came out with the "GoPro Hero Session," which is more compact than its flagship Hero releases. This could be the reason why Hero 5's release is taking a while, so as not affect sales of the "Session" model.

Master Herald also reported that price for "GoPro Hero 5" could fall between the $500 to $600 mark. If that's a little steep, it's because the gadget will come with plenty of features especially in its hardware design.

While there will be no new GoPro gadgets for the holiday season, users can begin saving up for the "Hero 5" when it does come out next year. It's speculated that this unit will be a worthy upgrade for enthusiasts.

Developed by Nick Woodman, GoPro launched its first line of Hero cameras in 2004 and earned the company decent revenues. It's most current Hero release has quadrupled the company's earnings in 2014, per Forbes.
