Nike Shoes: LeBron 13 Doernbecher, Air Jordan 13 Doernbecher Release This Weekend -- What You Need To Know [Where To Buy, Price & Specs]

Nike fans, here's good news. Nike is scheduled to release the 2015 Doernbecher Freestyle collection, which features six specially designed sneakers. The release includes LeBron 13 and Air Jordan 13 Retro sneakers.

The Latin Post reported that these shoes were designed by six kids from Doernbecher Children's Hospital, and their designs tell their stories of battling with illness.

The LeBron 13 Doernbecher was designed by 11-year-old Kian Safholm, a kid who underwent three surgeries to treat a staph infection that affected his body and heart. According to Sneaker News, the shoe is designed in a black-based, color-faded upper that reflects a sunrise on the savanna; as well as a customized lion logo taken from LeBron's motif.

Safholm's design, according to Nike, is a tribute to LeBron James, who inspires the young boy to fight.

"Kian's custom LEBRON XIII is a tribute to King James himself, who inspired Kian to remain courageous and keep up his fight," Nike noted. "Since LeBron is said to have the heart of a lion, Kian chose colors that represent sunrise on the savanna, where lions roam. LeBron's signature makes an appearance, as does a stylized lion logo."

Nike is also releasing the Doernbecher colorway of the Air Jordan 13 Retro. Kicks On Fire said that this shoe was designed by 11-year-old John Charles, a kid fighting Crohn's disease.

"Designing his signature AIR JORDAN XIII RETRO was a chance for John to share his unique skills with the world," Nike noted. "His sneaker features his soccer number, a cartoon kid with a raised brow and those seven pills to represent the medicine he takes to manage the disease."

Kicks added that his ailment is spelled out on the shoes' outsole, signifying that he is stomping out the disease which every step that he takes – as well as everyone who will purchase the shoe.

The LeBron 13 Doernbecher will be available starting Saturday, priced at $200 for men's sizes and $160 for GS sizes. A special edition LeBron hat will also be available for $35, and a special edition Tee for $30 apiece.

The Air Jordan 13 Retro Doernbecher will be priced at $225 for men's sizes and $180 for GS sizes. Also available are Jordan hats priced at $35 and the Nike AW77 Hoodie for $80.

The Doernbecher Freestyle 2015 collection also includes the Women's Nike Free TR5, Women's Nike Air Max 90, Nike Air Max 95, and the Nike Zoom Stefan Janoski.
