'Captain America: Civil War' Cast & Trailer: Sequel Crossover With 'Guardians of the Galaxy', Film Dropping Thanos Easter Eggs [Rumors]

While we near the release date of "Captain America: Civil War," more and more details about the film leaks. A new report suggested that the upcoming "Civil War" might have a crossover with "Guardians of the Galaxy" as both movies are leading to Thanos.

Per Movie Pilot, Marvel's biggest surprise success story at the box office last year was "Guardians of the Galaxy." The film created a world right off the bat without teasing about its heroes in minor roles. Due to its success, there's a high expectation for its upcoming sequel "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."

Director James Gunn, who helmed the first "Guardians of the Galaxy," is not particular in cramming Peter, Quill, Gamora, Groot and the others into a movie with the Earthbound Avengers. In a statement over a year ago, this was his thought about a potential crossover.

"We really are separate from the Avengers, and I don't think people should assume too many things about the Guardians play in all this because we have our own galaxy to take care of," Gunn said. "We have our own galaxy to save. Earth is the Avengers' province. Thinking that everything is going to come together in a perfect way is not necessarily the way it's going to happen."

Despite Gunn's words, the report suggested a potential crossover among the "Guardian of the Galaxy" and its sequel, over "Captain America: Civil War" and "The Avengers: Infinity War." Someone connects these movies and it is Thanos.

The Phase 2 of the MCU has been all about establishing and uniting the Avengers so that they will be ready for the day when they have to rid the universe of Thanos. It is impossible to beat the all-powerful being in possession of the Infinity Gautlet. But to have a more powerful force, Marvel introduced Black Panther in "Captain America: Civil War" and "Doctor Strange" in a separate movie.

Paten Herald previously reported that Thanos will be the main villain in "Avengers: Infinity War." Per MNR Daily, the first film of "Guardians of the Galaxy" featured Gamora (Zoe Saldana) deceiving Thanos to kill him using the Infinity Stone.

The comic book also featured Gamora aiding Captain Mar-Vell, Drax and the Avengers against Thanos, which suggested a possibility that the Avengers and the characters from "Guardians of the Galaxy" might work together against the super villain.

Per Movie Pilot, Gamora is a powerful ally to Avengers because she is Thano's adoptive daughter and they already have a connection that could open up emotional manipulation. If the Avengers' weapons will not work against Thano's armour, the ability to manipulate the super villain could be their edge.

"Captain America: Civil War" premieres on May 6, 2016, while "Guardians of the Galaxy 2," will follow a year after.
