Johnny Depp is his daughter's number one supporter. When Lily Rose, 16, made a subtle revelation about her sexuality when she took part in a project mounted by an LGBT group last August, the actor was hardly surprised.
"She's got thousands of followers on social media, and they were all taken completely by surprise," Depp told Daily Mail alluding to Lily's coming out. "But not me. I already knew because she tells me everything - she's not afraid to say anything to me. We're super-tight and I'm very proud of our relationship."
The father makes no qualms about how much his teenager amazes him and commends Lily for being "one of the smartest human beings" he knows. Depp admitted Lily is more together than him at that same age. The "Pirates of Caribbean" star stated that he's behind Lily regardless of her choices and decisions. "The only thing you can do as a parent is to offer support. And I do," he said.
But even when Depp is open and accepting of Lily's choices, the father admitted he's always concerned about her, especially since she's slowly coming into her own as a celebrity and style icon for younger kids. The teenager has rightfully snagged modeling gigs from Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld and will soon be seen in the horror comedy movie "Yoga Hosers," per People.
If the father could only have it his way, he would rather not have Lily get into acting or modeling, but the young girl has been showing her passion for it and Depp believes in her. "She's got the goods - she can certainly deliver," the delighted dad told People.
"What's happening to Lily-Rose is something that I didn't expect to happen this early, that's for sure! It's such a funny thing when you see your daughter transitioning from your baby, your little girl, to suddenly being a young woman," the 52-year-old actor said. To Depp, Lily will always remain his child and he will not stop worrying about her as a father.
Per Pink News, Lily's sexuality spectrum remains unclear but her activism and participation in LGBT issues is helping others deal with their own sexuality issues. The budding model and actress is Depp's eldest child with ex-partner Vanessa Paradis. They also have a 13-year-old child named Jack.
Depp also told People that both his children are "good kids who are smart, polite and caring." As a matter of fact, the star revealed that raising Lily Rose and Jack is one accomplishment the Hollywood star is most proud of.
