Marvel’s Jessica Jones made its much awaited debut via Netflix last Friday and thanks to the hype the that show garnered from weeks back, many are of course interested on whether the show is indeed one of the best Marvel shows to date.
The new Netflix series is a different rendition from the show which debuted back in 2010 via ABC. Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg pointed out that the present day version is different and pretty much better thanks mainly because she was given a free rein on the series, as reported via The Hollywood Reporter.
The show pits Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, another street-level superhero who is practically in the same line as another familiar Marvel hero in Daredevil/Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox).
From the looks of it, the series has indeed become a resounding success so it is now time to ask the question on whether viewers can expect a season 2 of the said Marvel series
There isn’t an immediate answer to that since it seems that Jessica Jones is part of a series or Marvel flicks that will have to come out in order.
While Rosenberg seems to be open to the idea, she points out timing and scheduling as factors, the same thing that the Daredevil series had to go through. Daredevil is all set to get a second season, something that will come out in 2016 via Screen Rant.
Another series expected to come out is The Defenders so given that logistics and scheduling, it may all boil down to the question on whether there would be time to produce a second season which unfortunately does not fall in her hands.
Under the deal between Marvel and Netflix, there should be four new original character series out outside the expected Defenders miniseries. Daredevil and Jessica Jones have already been out with Iron Fist and Luke Cage expected to follow as detailed by Screen Rant.
The Luke Cage series is expected to come out next (in 2016) with no actual date for Iron Fist and The Defenders for now.
Hence, it remains to be seen if there will indeed be time for a season 2 of Marvel’s Jessica Jones at this point since there is seemingly some pressure on "The Defenders," which needs to be shown before the awaited "The Avengers: Infinity Part 1" slated for a May 4, 2018 release.
Summing it all up, a second season seems a big complicated at this point for Marvel’s Jessica Jones though if time permits, Roseberg could be hard at work for such once the logistics have been properly ironed out.
