There have been a lot of rumors regarding the release of "Kingdom Hearts 3." Now, a recent listing on Amazon reveals that the video game might be available to fans sooner as expected.
According to a report from Motoring Crunch, "Kingdom Hearts 3" may be slated for a December release after Amazon posted a pre-order option for the game, which retails at $59.99 for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, if you look closely on Amazon's listing, it was indicated that the item will be released on Dec. 31, 2016, not 2015, and is "expected to arrive after Christmas." This means that there might be a confusion on the December launch leak in most reports, as "Kingdom Hearts 3" may be released next year.
Furthermore, there was also a note on the pre-order listing, saying, "Customers may have received an email from Amazon stating that this title is scheduled to release on [Jan. 2, 2017]. Please note that the placeholder release date for this game is [Dec. 31, 2016], and [Jan. 1, 2017] just happens to be the next shipping day after that placeholder date. No actual release date is confirmed at this time. Apologies for any confusion this may have caused."
Meanwhile, a post on Square Enix's blog noted that the upcoming "Kingdom Hearts 3" will show an older Sora, who will go on adventures with famous Disney characters. According to the post, the game "will harness next generation console technologies to weave together an incredibly stunning universe full of new and familiar Disney worlds."
KDrama Stars also noted a rumor that "Kingdom Hearts 3" developers are thinking of expanding the game's universe by including Marvel and Star Wars characters. However, game director Tetsuya Nomura said that this may be hard to do as Disney has rigid restrictions when it comes to its franchises.
"It would be great if we could add those licenses as well," Nomura revealed. "There are lots of rules and restrictions by Disney so we can't actually put in everything people want."
Meanwhile, Nomura also stated per Motoring Crunch that the reason of the video game's late release. “The transition was quite a process. We pretty much had to start from the ground again. We had to make sure that we could recreate our key effects in the Unreal Engine and that the effects we specifically needed for Kingdom Hearts could be adapted," the director explained.
Juicy as these may look like, fans must still wait for the game's release, which may be December next year if Amazon's listing is accurate, to know if any of these speculations are true.
