'Legends of Tomorrow' Trailer & Release Date: Teaser Released! Footage Reveals 'Batman V Superman' Fate?

The CW's "Legends of Tomorrow" finally gets an official release date, and the network also treated fans to the upcoming series' full-length trailer.

Based on the almost three-minute trailer, "Legends of Tomorrow" will be set in a futuristic London in 2166, and the immortal DC villain Vandal Savage, played by Casper Crump, was seen taking over the entire world.

In a mission to prevent Savage from totally controlling the planet, Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) calls together a team of superheroes to travel through time and stop Savage from putting his plans in motion.

"Vandal Savage is an evil dictator blessed with immortality. He has achieved what no one in human history ever has--he's conquered the entire planet," Rip's voice was heard in the trailer.

He then introduced himself to the superheroes, letting them know that he's been assigned to capture Savage.

Rip expressed his need for help from Atom (Brandon Routh), Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), White Canary (Caity Lotz), Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee), Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) and Firestorm.

The team of legends traveled back in time when people's fashion sense is a lot different from today's.

What's significant in the new trailer is the reference to Batman and Superman. Rip's voice was also heard saying: "I've seen Men of Steel die and Dark Knights fall. Your entire 21st century world will suffer."

With those lines, it was easily assumed that The Dark Knight and the Man of Steel will become part of the DC Universe, Comic Book noted.

According to the news outlet, it isn't the first time that the two characters were referenced in the DC series. Comic Book also reported that a Bruce Wayne Easter egg has been dropped during The CW's premiere of "The Flash."

However, the latest trailer more than just dropped an Easter egg, but rather made a clear-cut reference to the biggest superheroes in the DC universe. This doesn't mean though that fans will get to see Batman and Superman in the series right away.

Meanwhile, before all the chaos unleashed by the immortal villain, Savage will make his first appearance in the upcoming crossover special for "The Flash" and "Arrow."

iO9 noted that Savage's past may be featured in the said crossover and it should prepare for his entrance in "Legends of Tomorrow" as well.

The recently released epic trailer undoubtedly whet fans' appetite for more of DC's superheroes. The wait won't be that long as "Legends of Tomorrow" will premiere on January 21, 2016, 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

The introductory bits to the series will be introduced in the "Arrow/The Flash" crossover, which begins on December 1, i09 reported.
