"Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star Kim Kardashian has encountered yet another complication to her second pregnancy. She revealed that her unborn son is breech and, if things might not improve, the mom is bound to get a C-section.
"His head is still up and it's supposed to be down. He was supposed to turn by 32 weeks," Kim wrote on her website Tuesday. She and her doctors are trying to avoid going through an operation.
Breech babies are usually born through a scheduled cesarean delivery, but it is possible to do a vaginal delivery. There are risks in both cases, but the threats are significantly less with a cesarean birth, per the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
"I've learned that you actually can deliver a breech baby and I feel fortunate that my doctor Paul Crane is one of the few doctors that still does this," the star went on to write on her blog. Los Angeles Times reported that Crane is also the doctor of Kim's mom, Kris Jenner. He delivered Kim and even Kim's first born, North West.
Kim is doing all she can to help her son change position. The reality TV star still hopes that the baby would turn with the help of an "intensive chiropractic work" with Dr. Elliot Berlin. "He is 'the' pregnancy chiropractor! I've learned so much from my few sessions with him," Kim said.
She is also playing music on her belly, icing certain spots and lying upside down for 15 minutes at least three times a day. She's trying acupuncture and may have to consider hypnosis if she's desperate. LA Times reported that Kim also watched "Heads Up," a documentary about moms delivering breech baby the natural way.
The wife of Kanye West admitted in a separate blog post that the coming birth is scaring her. "There's not a whole lot I can do to prevent it, so my anxiety is a little high leading up to my delivery," Kim wrote. She has her mother and sisters for support, but Kim related that no one in her family went through what she's going through with her pregnancies.
The "KUWTK" star encountered pre-eclampsia during her first pregnancy and may undergo hysterectomy when her son is delivered in December, as previously reported on Parent Herald. The star is hopeful all will turn out well.
E! Online reported that Kim is already 36 weeks into her pregnancy and the baby is about seven pounds.
