The monarch was supposed to make the trip to New Zeal but due to her fragile health, her advisors suggested to send her son and daughter-in-law instead. Her advisors anticipated that the long trip would exhaust her physically and mentally.
Prince Charles and Camilla already traveled to New Zealand and they had a good rapport with Prime Minister John Key. That is why, the advisors recommended that the royal couple should represent Queen Elizabeth.
