ASUS ZenFone 2, Motorola Moto X, Next To Receive Android 6.0 OTA Update – Details

The list of Android devices pegged to get an OS bump to the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow patch has been appended with Asus and Motorola announcing new updates set for two models under their wing.

Asus has recently announced that the Asus Zenfone 2 will be the first variant on their end which will be bumped to Android 6.0 Marshmallow as reported on Christian Today.

The announcement on the end of Asus actually comes from their official forum, announcing that Asus Zenfone 2 with model ZE550ML/ZE551ML will be getting the first among its mobile phone lineup to get the Android bump.

The Asus Zenfone 2 is currently on Android 5.0 Lollipop so the big leap should be something to look forward to as far as Zenfone 2 owners are concerned. Other Asus variants reportedly next up to get an Android 6.0 M bump include:

• Zenfone 2 Deluxe
• Zenfone 2 Selfie
• Padfone S
• Zenfone 2 Laser

While the whole Android 6.0 M coming should be something to look forward to, there was no specific date on when Asus will start rolling out the update. Regardless, the belief is that the update could be out by the first quarter of 2016.

Among the features that Android 6.0 M brings to the Asus Zenfone 2 include improved permissions on apps, better battery management with the help of the Doze app and the inclusion of Google Now.

Another device getting the Android 6.0 M update is the Motorola Moto X Style that is available over in India.

According to Tech Times, Motorola has started rolling out Android 6.0 M over in India for the Moto X Style, a device that debuted only last month. It came with Android 5.1 Lollipop by default so the announcement should draw lots of cheers from Moto X Style owners.

The announcement of the Android 6.0 M hardly comes as a surprise though since Motorola senior director David Schuster did mention earlier in the month via his Google Plus account that Android 6.0 Marshmallow would be coming out in the following weeks.

The features that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow brings for the Moto X Style are practically the same features that were mentioned above with the Asus Zenfone 2.

Other than those, worth noting are the features involving external storage which makes the device’s SD card an extension of the internal storage.

Before, SD cards were only able to store media files but with the new Android 6.0 M, external SD cards can now also be used to store and run applications.

Then, there is the improved volume controls for the Moto X Style. The feature accounts for a better way to manage and control ringtone, media and alarm volumes as mentioned in the official changelog for the Moto X Style.
