Prince Charles, the heir to the throne, is known for his love for the environment, and it looks like there is someone who is following his footsteps. In an interview with Sky News, per the Telegraph, Prince Charles reveals that his two-year-old grandson Prince George, eldest child of Prince William and Kate Middleton, is also a nature lover.
“He’s one of those characters, I think, who naturally, instinctively, likes to be outside," Prince Charles, 67, revealed of Prince George. “It’s very interesting. I’m intrigued to see if it lasts, but he loves being outside, which is encouraging.”
A recent report from Us Weekly says that Prince Charles and Prince George even do gardening together. A source told the news outlet, “George recently helped his granddad plant a balsam poplar tree and a winter orange lime tree. They love to garden together.”
In the Sky News interview, Prince Charles, who is a passionate campaigner on environmental issues, encouraged people to take an interest in the natural world by going out and observing flowers and insects. He also talked about the current Syrian civil war and how climate change may have a hand in that. According to him, part of the refugee crisis in the Middle East, where people flock to Europe, is because of diminishing resources and extreme drought in their country.
“We're seeing a classic case of not dealing with the problem, because, I mean, it sounds awful to say, but some of us were saying 20 something years ago that if we didn't tackle these issues you would see ever greater conflict over scarce resources and ever greater difficulties over drought, and the accumulating effect of climate change, which means that people have to move," Prince Charles explained.
He continued, “And, in fact, there's very good evidence indeed that one of the major reasons for this horror in Syria, funnily enough was a drought that lasted for about five or six years, which meant that huge numbers of people in the end had to leave the land."
Meanwhile, it seems that it is not just Prince Charles and Prince George who has a love for gardening. A previous Parent Herald report says that Kate Middleton is planning to launch a business venture, rumored to be called "Anmer Organics," where the Duchess of Cambridge will sell organic food items for the whole family. According to Marie Claire, the Duchess of Cambridge has been feeding her kids, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, with organic produce from their garden in Anmer Hall and got the business idea from it.
Daily Mail also notes that Prince Charles also has a food line called Duchy Originals, which sells approximately 200 types of food items. The proceeds go to the royal family's charitable activities.
