Several fans are excited for the next series of "Half Life." It has been over eight years since "Half Life 2" was released, but Valve remains non-committal with the development of "Half Life 3." Is there a chance for the title to arrive soon? Well, new reports claimed that fans might be disappointed.
According to Forbes, there are two rumors about the anticipated game. First, Valve is making a lot of money off Steam and micro transactions and devoting resources for "Half Life 3" doesn't make financial sense. Second, there is a high expectation for the next "Half Life" series and Valve is scared to release it.
If "Half Life 3" will not be perfect, gamers will eat them alive. Valve was discouraged with the backlashes they received from fans when they released "Mass Effect 3" few years ago and, for this reason, the title was given a low priority.
"Half Life" writer Marc Laidlaw responded to a fan email about the matter stating his disbelief about the rumors. "I can't comment on Valve's internal process but it sounds like someone is trolling," Forbes reported. Anonymous sources have been posting speculation masquerading as inside knowledge since the "Half-Life 1" delay in 1997. If it's any comfort, please rest assured that in my experience at Valve, fear is the last thing that would ever drive a decision about what to work on."
Meanwhile, for those expecting for "Half Life 3," another bad news arrived. According to NSEAVOICE, Valve's writer Chet Faliszek announced that the title would not be part of the game developer's VR Headset Project. This means that there will be no virtual reality experience with the game.
This report only makes it harder for gamers to predict when "Half Life 3" will arrive. Moreover, this is a huge disappointment to fans who are hoping that the title will be launched along with Valve's VR headset project.
"Half Life 3" made headlines earlier when some of the title's text files were found on the update for "Dota 2." Parent Herald previously reported that there were several unusual files, one of which is the "hl3.txt" which was linked to "Half Life 3."
However, in a separate report from Parent Herald, Valve co-founder Gabe Newell was quick to deny the reports. According to him, "Half Life 3" is not in production yet and gamers should not expect it anytime soon.
Despite Newell's announcement, a leak from Steam network revealed that there was an update in Valve's database, which included the App 323900 featuring the logo of "Half Life 3." Valve already removed it but some fans already saw it.
Do you believe that "Half Life 3" is not in development yet? Or Valve just wants to surprise their fans?
