After the impressive success of the "Jurassic World" being the high-grossing film of the year, several fans are waiting for the arrival of "Jurassic World 2." Sure enough, the sequel will come with a better storyline. However, for those who love Chris Pratt's character in the film, be prepared because there are speculations that another character will take the lead in the upcoming movie.
Movie Pilot reported that Bryce Dallas Howard a.k.a Claire might be taking the lead in "Jurassic World 2." The first film was surrounded with several controversies regarding its gender dynamics. Although it was well accepted by die-hard fans and new audiences, it opened the doors for a gender debate.
The "running heels" was the epicenter of the controversy. Bryce did not think that her choice of footwear would make headlines. Initially, it was also illogical for her to think of her character running in the jungle in heels. However, Claire was not intended to be in the jungle because she's at work. So when she sees herself in the jungle she was wearing her usual office attire in heels, it would be a cheat if she'll get her hands on flats when she didn't know what would happen ahead of her.
In an interview with Collider, Bryce revealed that she would be reprising her role in "Jurassic World 2" and there will be no heels in the sequel. "The way that Colin [Trevorrow] told me that the sequel was happening, when it got greenlit, and that I was going to be in it, he texted me #NoHeels2018. And I was like, 'Yeah, boy!'" she said.
However, if one looked at Bryce's character deeply in "Jurassic World," there's more to see and appreciate. Initially, fans were unimpressed with Claire as she was too caught up with her work that she failed to look after her visiting nephews. However, when the hybrid dinosaur started eating people, her focus shifted from work to protecting her nephews.
The report claimed that Colin Trevorrow intended Claire to represent the main themes of the plot and, as the story progresses, she will start to take up a more leading role.
"Claire is the one who evolves the most over the trilogy, it's her story that mirrors this changing world. Owen has shit to deal with," he said. "The two of them opened Pandora's Box in Jurassic World and each of them is responsible for different elements of it in different ways, and I think the way that these characters are connected to the circumstances of what's happening it's different than the previous films."
Meanwhile, Parent Herald previously reported the sequel will no longer feature dinosaurs chasing people around an island. "Jurassic World 2" will happen outside the island as Trevorrow said, "Owen is going to be in it, Claire is in it and neither is going to be in the same place we left them in the first movie."
"Jurassic World 2" will premiere in July 2018.
