'Tekken 7' Characters & Release Date: Game Director Teases Enhanced Gameplay -- Better Graphics, Game Modes & More!

Fighting game fans will surely have fun when “Tekken 7” is released for consoles. According to Game Director Katsuhiro Harada, the game will be even better than its earlier-released arcade version.

“Fans can look forward to a dramatic and over-the-top progression of the storyline,” Harada said during the PlayStation event in Paris Games Week, according to Christian Today.

The arcade version already had good graphics. However, Attack of the Fanboy reported that, even after many updates, the visuals stayed the same. An avid fan asked Harada via Twitter if the console version would get enhanced graphics. To this, Harada replied “working on new graphics.”

“Tekken 7,” which is the last installment of the whole “Tekken” franchise, is reported to run for the first time on the Unreal Engine 4. Because of this game engine, Bandai Namco promised players that the game will feature stunning graphics, highly detailed characters and beautiful dynamic environments.

Not only that, as the game is coming to the PlayStation 4, there will be some exclusive content and possible PlayStation VR support. So far no announcement regarding an Xbox One version has been made, but fans can hope on that.

Bandai Namco Community Manager Gaetan Gireme said that, in addition to the characters that fans have known and loved for some time, new personas will also be introduced.

"In addition to the great graphics, as demonstrated in this awesome announcement trailer, many new characters will join the fight," he said.

Yibada reported that the current roster of fighters include Jin, Kazuya, Heihachi, Hwoarang, Xiaoyu, Lili, Asuka, Dragunov, Bryan Fury, Feng Wei, Steve Fox, King, Yoshimitsu, Lars Alexandersson, Alisa, Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, and Devil Jin. The game might also feature returning characters Nina and Anna Williams, Jun Kazama (Jin's Mother), Kunimitsu, Kuma, Angel and Eliza.

New characters include Kazumi Mishima (Heihachi's wife and Kazuya's mother), Claudio Serafino, Katarina Alves, Jose Rizal, Lucky Chloe, Shaheen, Gigas, and Jack-7.

Gematsu reported that the last and final installment will showcase the climax of the long-running power struggle inside the Mishima clan, quoting from Namco. Here's what the company said:

“With the Tekken franchise celebrating its 20th anniversary; the newest chapter of the series returns to its gameplay roots with classic 1 vs 1 bouts and its canon storyline centered on the eternal struggle for power amongst the members of the Mishima clan. With newcomer Kazumi Mishima joining the fight, the epic battle between father and son, and also husband and wife, will come to its fated conclusion in Tekken 7.”

So far, no specific release date has been given. Keep tuned for more details as they come.
