The woes of the WWE continue to pile up with word that another WWE star is likely to be out of commission for a long time.
The latest WWE star is Randy "The Viper" Orton, who is currently out on account of a shoulder injury. Surgery for his shoulder, which has been known to slip out of place in the middle of WWE matches and somehow popped back in, had already been done. However, Examiner reported that there will be a second surgery coming for the wrestler.
The second procedure will be surgery to his neck, which will likely result in Orton seeing a longer time off the WWE scene. The earliest possible time that he could return may be by the 2016 edition of WWE SummerSlam.
But seeing that the WWE has placed emphasis on making sure that their wrestlers are properly cleared to return to the ring, there is a probability that Orton’s return could take longer than expected.
However, a more serious question is on whether Orton can successfully make a return at all. The WWE has learned its lesson when they rushed Daniel Bryan back into ring action.
There is also the fact that surgeons are not inclined to do the neck surgery as of now. Apparently, they are still awaiting Orton to recover from his shoulder injury before moving forward which all the more moves up the timetable for his potential return.
The neck surgery is not considered serious and will be mainly done to clean out bone chips residing in his neck. If found worse, Orton will likely undergo fusion surgery which could translate into more time off for the WWE star according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
The forced time-off on "The Viper" couldn’t have come at worse time when the WWE is reeling from the absence of stars due to injury and outside commitments.
Seth Rollins had to sit out the last WWE PPV, WWE Survivor Series, after suffering knee injuries while Cesaro followed suit just recently and will be out of several months.
Daniel Bryan is someone waiting in the wings though his fate could depend on the findings of a third doctor with regards to the debate concerning his concussion issues.
John Cena, on the other hand, is not suffering from any major injury and is out to host a reality TV show.
With a heavy list of WWE names out of commission, the creative team has its work cut out as they try to make do with the current roster of stars headlined by Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Kevin Owens and Sheamus.
