There is no doubt that every fan of the "Iron Man" series wants to see Robert Downey Jr. reprise his role as the genius, billionaire, playboy and philanthropist Tony Stark. However, the casting for "Iron Man 4" is surrounded with several issues after reports claimed that a younger actor will be taking the lead in the next film.
Parent Herald previously reported the likelihood of Marvel giving the superhero a break and then recasting it in "Iron Man 4". No matter how perfect Downey Jr. is in giving Stark a life in the big screens at some point, he has to stop playing the character and some younger character may take his shoes.
Reports claimed that Ty Simpkins will be the next "Iron Man." However, despite his impressive performance in "Iron Man 3" which earned him a nomination in a particular award-giving body, many are still not sold to the idea of another actor taking the role.
"Despite his impressive resume, it's a stretch to imagine that Marvel Studios believes he has the presence and charisma to replace Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man," Cinema Blend reported. "There's an argument to be made that if Robert Downey Jr. hadn't been cast as Tony Stark, then Marvel wouldn't have achieved their subsequent success."
Of course, none will argue with the statement. There is no doubt that Downey Jr. is significant in the success of the franchise. However, since then, "Iron Man 4" was in a limbo. We do not know if it will happen and if it will, then when.
Well, fans should rejoice because "Iron Man 4" is confirmed to happen and Downey Jr. made the announcement himself. According to Food World News, the actor might have slipped about the release of the anticipated film in his appearance in the Ellen show. However, it is unlikely to be slipped of the tongue because the actor was asked by the host straightly if there would be "Iron Man 4." He disclosed that Marvel is exploring several ideas how to do the film in the best way and that they are in the middle of a negotiation. However, when prompted by Ellen if it was a "yes", Downey Jr. said, "Okay yes."
In a separate report from Parent Herald, there are rumors that the deleted scene of "Ant Man" is an Easter egg to "Iron Man 4" and that Stark will probably meet the 10 rings criminal organization. This group is crucial to the plot because it is run by Mandarin, who was behind the superhero's kidnapping in the first film.
There is no scheduled release date for "Iron Man 4" at the time, but many are hoping that this film is among the three films that Marvel will be launching in 2020.
