'Wonder Woman' Images Leaked -- Stars Spotted in Full Time Period Costumes

Just a few weeks ago, it was reported that 2017's “Wonder Woman” will take place in the time period around World War II, but now set photos depicting an even earlier time period have been leaked.

The set photos, first revealed via Daily Mail, feature actress Gal Gadot and actors Chris Pine and Ewen Bremmer as wearing full World War I-era garb, complete with a background set that appears to have been taken out of the said time period. Extras amounting to about 150 are also included.

Israeli actress Gadot is featured as wearing a warm blue padded jacket, paired with black gloves. Pine, for his part, was spotted complete with an aviator jacket, trousers, knee-length socks and a coat.

One of the photos, Movie Pilot reported, shows a war propaganda poster that contains the slogan “Your King and country needs you, enlist now.” Posters like this were commonly used in Britain to recruit soldiers in the time period between 1914 and 1918.

Another set photo features a certain place where soldiers who just returned from the war can exchange French currency. This, according to MP, indicates that the movie may be set at the end of WWI.

These pictures seem to give the idea that the movie is deviating from the original setting found in the comic books, where Diana is shown as having gone out of her home Themyscira into the real world around World War II.

Cinema Blend reported that the photos imply that the new “Wonder Woman” movie will follow the 1970's TV series, which was based in WWII. Part of the 2017 movie will be set in 1916, in the time period prior to the United States' joining of the Allied Powers.

Additionally, the set photos confirm earlier reports of Pine having dual roles. A social media post by co-star Said Taghmaoui revealed Pine wearing war-ear clothes, which meant that he will be playing two Trevors: the grandfather Steve Trevor, and the present-day grandson who has the same name.

The older Trevor meets Diana when his plane crashes in her Themyscira home. He then helps her defeat the story's main antagonist, god of war Ares. In the future, Trevor's grandson will also help Wonder Woman fight the same enemy.

CB added that the addition of these historical moments are crucial in building up the world where such superhero movies are set in. “Wonder Woman's” WWI scenes, for their part, will allow the DC Extended Universe to show viewers more of its history.

Gal Gadot's “Wonder Woman” will release in theaters 2017. Catch her first in “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” on March 25, 2016.
