Korean artist PSY makes a comeback with a new song titled “Daddy.” Tech Insider reported that the song is part of the new album that the Korean rapper has released.
The brand-new album, “Chiljip PSY-Da,” which is Korean for “This is PSY's Seventh Album,” is his first album since the phenomenal 2012 hit “Gangnam Style,” which made him famous.
The new song is reminiscent of the 2012 hit. Business Insider reported that the video features a lot of “meme-able” dance moves and several weird things like PSY's face superimposed into a newborn baby, a grade-schooler, an adult and an old man.
The video still has PSY's famous antics with it and features him dancing as the kid, or even just as himself. Apparently, the video has become viral, reaching 8,289,649 views as of the time of writing.
One viewer even commented on YouTube: “Every time he releases a music video, it goes viral and then you can hear it playing on every corner of the city. Well done PSY! I love this new song!"
PSY has co-written the song with famous American rapper Will.i.am. This is evident in the song's chorus that goes, "Hey where'd you get that body from? I got it from my daddy," which is obviously a remix of Will.i.am's song “I got it from my mama.” He also contributed to the whole album.
“Daddy” also features fellow Korean singer CL (from 2NE1) and Korean actress Ha Ji-won.
PSY's new album, which includes a mix of hip-hop, dance and punk music genres, took some time before being released, as the artist admitted that there was a lot of pressure on him to succeed.
“Maybe it was pressure, maybe it was stress,” he said in a press conference held in Seoul Monday.
"There were many thoughts going around in my head, including thoughts like, 'If I write like this, it would be not as good as Gangnam Style,' and 'If I write like this, the international audience will not understand,' so it took me a very long time to organize all those thoughts into one," PSY added.
He also said that he tried to include many emotions, such as happiness, anger, sadness, joy, love, hatred and greed -- like he did with past albums.
"Because this is an album that retains my continued desire as a lyric writer who wants to try things other than love songs in a movie-like way, there are several genres," he explained.
