Kate Middleton will reportedly be the first mother-to-be of Britain's royal family to have a baby shower, a family friend revealed.
Pippa, sister of Duchess of Cambridge, is expected to organize the baby shower, reported The Sun.
"It isn't royal tradition but Kate isn't a traditional royal," the friend told The Sun.
"She is modern and wants a normal life. Prince Harry, Kate and William are the royal family's link to the younger generation. A baby shower wouldn't normally happen if you're in the royal family, but there is now a modern way of thinking. It will be a great day for everyone and Kate is doing this with the blessing of the queen."
The newspaper reported that the party will have a pacifier-shaped cake from the bakery run by Kate and Pippa's brother, James. However, the date and location of the shower have not been revealed.
Kate, who is due this July, is expected to have her husband Prince William by her side during the delivery. Earlier this month, Now magazine reported that William will definitely be with his wife in the delivery room. "I'm sure he'll be there. It's become more common recently with the royal family - Peter Phillips, for instance, was at the birth of his daughters Savannah and Isla," royal insider Robert Jobson told the magazine.
