Entertainment Weekly (EW) has unveiled the very first look to "Captain America: Civil War" in its print edition. The issue also revealed details to Captain America's rift with Iron Man and the participation of a new Marvel movie character, Black Panther.
There's chaos surrounding Captain America and Iron Man, as the latter rallies behind government control while the captain is pushing for independence. iO9 reported about the "Sokovia Accords," the document that supposedly gives the United Nations control over the crime fighters, which the captain didn't want to sign.
"In most of the movies, there's no question who we should be siding with," said Captain America actor Chris Evans in the EW report. "This movie's the first time where you really have two points of view. It becomes a question of morality and I don't think [Cap] has ever been so uncertain with what right and wrong is."
Meanwhile, more details are coming to light about Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) since his character was introduced in the recently released trailer for "Captain America: Civil War." According to E! Online, Marvel's first black superhero will make the tension between Captain America and Iron Man even more strained and it's not really clear who he's siding with.
"You never quite know where he stands. There's always a bit of concealing and mystery. So I think mysterious is more his boat," said Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes in the movie. Per Collider, what's clear now is that the Black Panther is an important figure in this story because of his family's position in Wakanda. "I think there's perhaps a bit of a maverick there, and then there's also a need to live up to traditions and his father's legacy. And not even his father's legacy, but the entire nation of Wakanda," added Stan.
Marvel boss Kevin Feige said that they thought of bringing Black Panther to the movie because the story needed a third person that the audience has yet to know. "We don't just give him a cameo, to wave. He has his own conflict and his own people that he's looking out for," said Feige in the Collider report.
"We needed fresh eyes who wasn't embedded with the Avengers and who has a very different point of view than either Tony or Steve," added Fiege. A Slashfilm report revealed that there are promo arts for "Captain America: Civil War" that hint Black Panther could actually side with Iron Man.
"Captain America: Civil War" will be in theaters May 6, 2016.
