One of the big announcements that was supposed to happen at The Game Awards 2015 was leaked before the event.
Ed Boon, who co-created the "Mortal Kombat" series with John Tobias, would not be thrilled to know that the new characters have already been disclosed online earlier than expected.
A YouTube video released showed the leaked information but has since been set to private by the user, according to members of the NeoGAF forums.
However, it's too late because All Games Beta managed to capture the footage with the new characters in their website, along with the confirmation of the release date.
"Today Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment confirmed the four new playable characters coming to Mortal Kombat X in Kombat Pack 2 as downloadable content (DLC) in the first quarter of 2016," the statement read as seen in the website.
Some of the characters may surprise fans, while others may find them interesting. Here is the list from All Games Beta:
Leatherface appears first in the video; he is one of the characters to be added to the game once the DLC becomes available. Coming from the classic horror movie, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," Leatherface will be seen battling it out with his familiar signature chainsaw.
The Kung Fu drunken master, Bo Rai Cho, will be making his return to the series. He was first included in "Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance." Bo Rai Cho's comeback will certainly give his old fans something to look forward to.
Xenomorph is another movie antagonist from the film "Alien" who will join the team of fighters. He will be using his sword-like claws into the battle. He is said to have absorbed Baraka's properties because of their obvious similarities. Baraka, on the other hand, is a character that was introduced in "Mortal Kombat 2."
One interesting character to be added is Tri-Borg. He is Cyrax, Sektor and Robot Smoke all-in-one. Tri-Borg should be very exciting to use in a battle.
The people behind "Mortal Kombat" have definitely done a good job, since it has been nominated as the best fighting computer game of this year. With the new characters added, 2016 will surely be a good year for the franchise.
There have already been four characters added to the first "Mortal Kombat" DLC: Predator, Tremor, Tanya and the main antagonist of "Friday the 13th", Jason Voorhees. With the new addition of four characters, the game is expected to continue their success.
The release of the "Mortal Kombat X" DLC is reportedly in April 2016, Gospel Herald reported.
