Brad Pitt's Family Policy: 'No Secrets' from Kids, Angelina Jolie makes First Appearance after Double Mastectomy (PHOTO)

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt believe in a life without any secrets, particularly among their family members.

During a chat with Extra TV at the London premiere of Pitt's upcoming movie "World War Z" on Sunday, the couple revealed how they don't like hiding anything from their little ones and how they managed to reveal Jolie's deadly condition and surgery to their children, People magazine reported.

"We have a policy in our family, no secrets. I mean, there's an age of understanding, so you've got to present it in a way that is age appropriate, but we know our children very well," the 49-year-old actor told Extra. "We want everything to be on the table and any questions they have, for them to ask."

According to reports, this is Jolie's first public appearance after her double mastectomy in February and reconstructive surgery in April. During the chat, Pitt also praised his partner for the extraordinary courage she showed in dealing with her deadly condition. "It really shows you that one person can make a difference... I was incredibly proud of her way before this, but it was a very brave decision," he added to Extra.

Jolie's relationship with Brad Pitt started in 2005, during the filming of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith". The 38-year-old actress, who started acting at the age of 16, and fiancé Brad Pitt have three adopted (Maddox, Pax and Zahara) and three biological children (Shiloh, and twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline).

The celebrity couple underwent a difficult period early this year, after Jolie was detected with a BRCA1 faulty gene that escalates the risk of breast and ovarian cancer. Jolie's mother had died fighting breast cancer for nearly 10 years. Doctors found that Jolie had an 87 percent risk of breast cancer and 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer, and as a safety measure, the actress underwent a preventive double mastectomy. Jolie shared the news with the world through an op-ed in The New York Times in May.
