'Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge' Release Date & Price: Leak Confirms 'S7 Plus' Model, Renders Surface Online -- Details Here [Rumors]

Currently, rumors about Samsung's Galaxy S7 smartphone are circulating wildly over the Internet. However, it's interesting to note that, so far, only a few details are known. With a new leak that spilled recently, expecting fans will have something exciting to think about before the phone releases.

The leak, first seen through GSM Arena, has come from a third-party accessory maker named ITSkins. Such companies are granted access to details not usually revealed to the public, as these are needed to prepare items associated to or directly used for the product itself.

The leaked render models confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S7 is coming out in two models. One of them measures 143.37 x 70.8 x 6.94 mm, a size that's almost identical to the Galaxy S6. The other, larger model measures 163.32 x 82.01 x 7.82 mm, making it a huge phone that closely resembles the Galaxy Mega 2's huge size.

Apparently, as based on the leaked data, a “S7 Plus” variant is coming and it will overshadow the S7 in terms of physical and display size – a large 6-inch panel.

The tech news outlet said that it is too early to conclude whether the “edge” screen variety will continue production in the S7 era. It's also worth noting that Samsung's current phablet, the Galaxy Note 5, only has a 5.7-inch display. If the reports are true, then, the S7 might outshine (or more specifically “out-measure”) every other smartphone that Samsung currently has.

Another detail that the leak provided is the home button's design and the SIM card slot placement.

The home button has been changed from a circular shape to a more rectangular form, probably to give the new smartphone a distinctive look in comparison to the earlier generation. The SIM card slot has also been transferred to the side.

Slash Gear reported another key aspect of the upcoming smartphone aside from the leak.

Benchmarks have found that when Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 is installed in the Galaxy S7, it gets scores higher than any other SoC installed in any other phone.

The Snapdragon 820, although getting lower single core scores compared to Apple's A9 at 2456 versus 2537, multiple core scores show the dragon get an all-time high of 5423, higher than the A9's 4454. It also clocked at 2.2GHz.

The only downside, however, is that the Snapdragon breathes fire: the chip will get hot. Apparently, it needs more cooling.

Stay tuned for more Galaxy S7 updates when they come.
