The "Tekken" series remains to be among the most popular games. In fact, the clamor about the upcoming title "Tekken 7" has been unstoppable. However, the reports about the game keep on disappointing fans.
Many are expecting to hear about "Tekken 7" in the recently concluded PlayStation Experience (PSX). But to the dismay of several gamers who are dying to play the title, it was not included in the event.
Days before the said event, someone asked Bandai Namco producer Katsuhiro Harada on his Twitter if they will have an important announcement about "Tekken 7" in the upcoming event. He was straightforward on his response stating, "I think not this time."
CrossMap reported that among the important details that fans are waiting to hear from the developers is the anticipated release date of "Tekken 7" for PS4 and Xbox One versions. Last October, Bandai Namco confirmed at the Paris Games Week that the upcoming title would be getting PS4 and Xbox One versions with PlayStation VR support.
While Harada and his team kept things under wraps, here are the few things we know about "Tekken 7."
Release Date
There are speculations that "Tekken 7" will be out on the first quarter of 2016. According to Techno Buffalo, the title will likely be close to the release date of Capcom's "Street Fighter V," which is scheduled for release on Feb. 16, 2016. Bandai Namco wanted to be ahead of the game, so there is a possibility that the game will be out before Capcom release their game.
However, Parent Herald previously reported that the game might also be out in the latter part of 2016 or early 2017 basing on the timeline of its predecessor. "Tekken 6" was released in arcade on Nov. 26, 2007, but it was only made available for PS3 and Xbox 360 after a year and 11 months. "Tekken 7" was released in an arcade in Japan on March 18, 2015.
Playable Characters
The number of playable characters is fewer than the previous games. "Tekken 6" has the largest roster with 42 playable characters but, at the time, only 27 characters were confirmed for "Tekken 7." Of these characters, eight are new including Katarina Alves, Claudio Serafino, Lucky Chloe, Shaheen, Jose Rizal, Gigas, Jack-7 and Kazumi Mishima.
Unreal Engine 4
"Tekken 7" is developed using Unreal Engine 4, which enables photorealistic graphics, advanced dynamic lighting and innovative particle system. In a separate report from Parent Herald, Harada confirmed that they are working on new graphics.
