The "high-flying" Blake Griffin has been very notorious for dunking on everyone that gets on his way to the basket. However, last Monday was a different story for the athlete. He certainly felt how it is going to be on the receiving end as he was "posterized" by none other than the veteran Kevin Garnett.
A YouTube video of the dunk has gone viral online as NBA fans around the world were amazed by the move of Garnett. It only proves that the former all-star power forward from the Minnesota Timberwolves can still jump as high to embarrass any player that gets in his way to the ring.
The coach of the Los Angeles Clippers, Doc Rivers, who also coached Garnett when they were both part of the 2008 Boston Celtics champion team, also got a front row seat to see the monster dunk from the LA Clippers bench.
CBS Boston shared that Karl Anthony Towns, the rookie player of the Timberwolves, did not expect that move from Garnett.
"Seeing KG in practice, I know he has the ability to dunk still," he said. "But I just saw him taking steps like he was going to dunk. I didn't know if he was going to dunk or shoot a floater. He surprised me, too," Towns added.
Griffin, 26, tried to make a defensive stop by trying to take the charge from Garnett. However, it did not go the way he wanted it to be.
The play started when Timberwolves Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio got a steal and saw Garnett running hard on the floor. The sneaky point guard then made a pass to Garnett for a slam over Griffin. Garnet was then slapped with a technical foul as he threw some trash talk to Griffin after the sensational dunk.
Many people consider Garnett to be past his prime at 39, but he certainly felt like his old self on Monday's game event. The fans reacted as if it was the old Garnett who played for the Timberwolves from 1995 to 2007, before being traded to Boston, then Brooklyn Nets and now back with the Wolves.
Former teammate Paul Pierce also gave an epic reaction while sitting in the Clippers bench. Players must have been surprised Garnett can still fly. That could be Garnett's final hurrah, as he already expressed his plan on retiring with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the team he started playing with in the NBA.
