DC fans are getting excited as Warner Bros prepares for highly-anticipated movie releases next year, starting with Zack Snyder's “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” and David Ayer's “Suicide Squad.” Currently, rumors of two A-list actors from both titles joining together for one big movie are spreading like wildfire.
The rumor came from movie website Latino Review, which reported that Will Smith, who plays Deadshot in “Suicide Squad,” will be joining Ben Affleck's "Batman" in the latter's solo movie.
The website said that, as Smith has signed a contract for multiple appearances as the masked assassin, some are saying that he will be playing a key role in Warner's and DC's plans for the DC Extended Universe.
If the rumors from the website's unnamed sources are proven true, then it might mean that Smith will be joining Affleck in the solo “Batman” movie that the latter is reportedly co-writing and directing. His role will be a “major” one in “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly scenario.”
Although the idea of the caped vigilante starring in a movie together with a masked assassin might excite people into thinking that this will be another fight of the century, it will be good to know that the plot offers a different direction.
According to Screen Rant, that scenario features an “honorable bounty hunter, a cold blooded killer and a foolish oaf teaming up to find some buried treasure.” This might mean that Batman and Deadshot won't be fighting each other, but they won't be friends either – they just have to work together or else they'll walk away carrying nothing.
Screen Crush added that, probably, “the Good” could be Batman, “the Bad” could be Deadshot and “the Ugly” would be a crazy persona named The Joker (Jared Leto).
Movie Web said that this idea seems to be supported by the fact that Affleck's Batman was found hanging on the The Joker's sports car, as seen in the “Suicide Squad” trailer.
Although nothing is confirmed as of the moment, both Smith and Affleck are reportedly enthusiastic about it. Should the rumors prove true, then this will mean that the “Batman” solo movie won't be just another entry to the usual canon of Batman films – it could be just as big as “Batman V Superman” as well.
“Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” releases March 25, 2016, followed by “Suicide Squad” on August 5, 2016.
