'The Winds of Winter' Release Date: Book Arriving Soon; 'GoT' Production Crew Spotted With A Manuscript [Rumors]

At the time, it seems that no other book could match the anticipation that fans have for the long overdue book "The Winds of Winter." It has been over four years of waiting and fans went through several levels of expectations to disappointments concerning the book's release date. New reports suggested that the anticipated book might see the light of the day soon.

HBO already announced that their popular TV show "Game of Thrones," inspired from George RR Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire," would premiere in April. Following the said announcement, several fans were wondering about the release date of the long-awaited book "The Winds of Winter."

Martin already announced his desire to finish "The Winds of Winter" before the new season of "GoT" airs. Earlier this year, the 67-year-old author confessed to Entertainment Weekly that finishing the book before HBO's hit series returns in the small screen is important to him.

"I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish. But I canceled two convention appearances, I'm turning down a lot more interviews-anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done," the celebrity author said.

However, despite Martin's efforts, it seems that some are doubtful that "The Winds of Winter" will be released on time. Parent Herald previously reported that the book is unlikely to be out before "GoT" season 6, following Jeff's educated guess about the book's release date.

However, a new report suggested that "The Winds of Winter" might be arriving soon. In fact, sooner than fans expected. Several signs are in the air hinting that winter is coming. According to iDigitalTimes, the production crew of "GoT" season 6 was spotted sporting copies of the manuscript of the book and one of the editors accidentally leaked this news.

This report gives fans hope that it is still possible for "The Winds of Winter" to hit the bookshelves before "GoT" season 6 airs. Per Jeff on his blog Wars and Politics of Ice and Fire, a complete manuscript could be available by Feb. 23, with accelerated publishing. If the manuscript is already complete, could it mean that the book will be arriving soon?

Whether "The Winds of Winter" is coming out before or after "GoT" season 6, one thing is certain: it is arriving next year. In a separate report from Parent Herald, Alejo Cuervo, editor for Ediciones Gigamesh, the small Spanish publisher who owns the rights to the books confirmed this. "It is expected next year," he said pertaining to the sixth book of "A Song of Ice and Fire."
