Real Housewives of New Jersey star Jacqueline Laurita was advised by doctors to end her second pregnancy fearing a miscarriage, reported Starcasm.net.
On Sunday's episode of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, Jacqueline and husband Chris disclosed their 4-year-old son's autism. Before Nicholas' birth, Jacqueline had five miscarriages and doctors said they were not hopeful about Nicholas. "He was a miracle baby," Chris said. "When we got pregnant with Nick, we went to the doctors to get a checkup and there was no heartbeat. And the doctors said 'Look, you're having another miscarriage, you have to terminate the pregnancy, and Jacqueline was like 'Listen, the answer's no. I'm not terminating the pregnancy right now.''"
Although the reports by doctors showed bleak chances of a successful pregnancy, the 43-year-old TV star decided not to lose hope and give her pregnancy a chance. And her son Nicholas was born a healthy baby.
However, Jacqueline noticed that Nicholas showed no signs of development compared to other children his age. She said he even stopped saying 'I love you,' singing his favourite songs and did not respond to her pointing to an object. After a pediatric treatment, the couple got to know that their son had autism.
Jacqueline said she did not give up on Nicholas and instead thought of providing proper treatment to the child. "I began reading everything I could find on autism. We learned that early intervention is the key to recovery. We learned that diet and nutrition play an important role. We learned that my husband and I would have to work together to be our son's greatest advocates," she wrote on Parenting.
On Sunday's episode, Jacqueline said that Nicholas is now able to say 'I love you' again.
