There is no doubt that several Marvel fans are looking forward to "Iron Man 4." However, up to this time, there are no concrete details about the anticipated film. Will we still see the same Tony Stark in the next "Iron Man" film?
Robert Downey Jr. was exceptional in portraying the self-proclaimed genius, billionaire, playboy and philanthropist Stark a.k.a "Iron Man." Fans have no other wish than to see the actor reprise his role in "Iron Man 4," but it seems that the character is up for grab for other actors.
According to MovieNewsGuide, it looks like Downey Jr. will not be back for "Iron Man 4." This is despite his confirmation in the Ellen Show that there is indeed a fourth installment for "Iron Man."
Parent Herald previously reported Downey Jr.'s appearance on the Ellen show wherein the host asked him about "Iron Man 4." The actor explained that Marvel is exploring several ideas on how to film the next "Iron Man" in the best way and disclosed that they are in the middle of a negotiation. However, when prompted by the host for a "yes" if there is "Iron Man 4," the actor answered with "Okay, yes."
Although Downey Jr. confirmed "Iron Man 4," some still doubt if he will be wearing the suit. There are undying reports about other actors leading the film and among the popular names is Ty Simpkins.
In a separate report from Parent Herald, the delay of "Iron Man 4" was due to Downey Jr.'s pay hike demand. The actor reportedly demanded a fee higher than the $80 million he received from filming "Avengers: Age of Ultron." He wanted a $50 million salary increase.
In a separate report from Parent Herald, the actor is negotiating for a percentage of income in "Iron Man 4" rather than a fixed amount because he knows that the film will be making tons of money.
Marvel is now considering Simpkins, but not everyone agrees with the younger actor leading "Iron Man 4." "Despite his impressive resume, it's a stretch to imagine that Marvel Studios believes he has the presence and charisma to replace Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man," CinemaBlend reported.
But, will people still think this way if Leonardo Di Caprio will be the next "Iron Man?" Per MovieWeb, the "Titanic" star and Jon Hamm are among the contenders for "Iron Man 4."
The "Judge" star was asked if he would let somebody else play as Tony Stark and he just laughed it off and said "I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I'm casting director for Marvel."
We really hope to see Downey Jr. in "Iron Man 4."
