Miss Universe 2015: Miss Philippines Wins The Crown; Miss Colombia Got Dethroned After Host Steve Harvey Announced The Wrong Winner [VIDEO]

Several fans were disappointed to hear the wrong name during the announcement of the recently-concluded Miss Universe 2015. Steve Harvey was slammed by netizens when Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez rather than Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

Supporters of both candidates took to social media to express their disappointment over the wrong announcement of the Miss Universe winner. "Steve Harvey has just made himself the most hated man in Colombia. #MissUniverse2015," one Twitter user wrote. "I have to hand it to #PiaWurtzbach. She was careful w her reaction when she was called as Ms Universe. She knew a colleague was embarrassed," veteran Filipino news TV broadcaster Karen Davila said in her tweet.

In the end, Miss Philippines got the crown. Her win comes to no surprise as she is one of the top contenders in this year's Miss Universe. Pia joined Miss Universe Philippines for three consecutive years and it was only this year that she was able to get the title.

"Absolutely no regrets. Finally guys, and of course most importantly, I hope I inspired you," the half-Filipino half-German beauty said in an interview with Philippine Star. "Never give up on your dreams and believe that dreams do come true!"

Ariadna, on the other hand, is in an intense pressure to get this year's title as last year's winner, Paulina Vega, is from the same country. News reports claimed that the 21-year-old beauty has delivered well in the preliminary rounds of the competition.

AsiaStarz previously reported that Asian bets have been working hard to win Miss Universe. The hopefuls, which include Pham Huong (Vietnam), Nitaya Panemalaythong (Laos), Seng Polvithavy (Cambodia), Lisa Marie White (Singapore), Anindya Putri (Indonesia), Urvashi Rautela (India), Vanessa Tevi Kumares (Malaysia), Szu Yu Chen (Taiwan), Aniporn Chalermburanawong (Thailand), Ariana Miyamoto (Japan), Kim Seo-yeon (South Korea) and Yun Xue (China), have tried their best in each round. However, it is only Pia who made it to the top five.

Another highlight moment of Miss Universe 2015 is when Miss Slovenia Ana Halozan appeared on the stage Sunday night at the Planet Hollywood Resort. It can be recalled that the beauty had a frightening seizure which resulted in the paralysis of the right side of her face few days before the coronation night.

"How did this happen to me? What I did in my past that this needs to be with me right now?" Ana shared in statement. "When they say to me in hospital that I can't go to the pageant, I was, like, are you joking with me? I will go."

WME/IMG managed this year's competition after the company acquired the Miss Universe pageant from Donald Trump. Also, fans all over the world were able to cast their votes via online voting during the telecast, which is another first in the history of Miss Universe.
