Miss Universe 2015: Steve Harvey Admits It’s His Mistake, Feels Terrible About It

Steve Harvey made a huge mistake during the Miss Universe pageant by announcing the wrong winner as the Miss Universe. Instead of Miss Philippines, Harvey announced Miss Colombia as the Miss Universe.

"Okay, folks," he explained. "I have to apologize. The first runner-up is Colombia."

Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo, was already wearing the prestigious crown when Harvey realized his mistake. Gutierrez was then forced to remove the crown and hand it over to Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

Wurtzbach, on the other hand, was stunned when she was announced as the winner of the pageant. While Arevalo was then left in tears and was comforted by her fellow candidates.

"This is exactly what's on the card," Harvey said, holding it up, clearly distraught. "I will take responsibility for this. It was my mistake. It was on the card... Please don't hold it against the ladies."

As posted on Variety, Harvey then apologized on Twitter. He said he'd like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia and Miss Philippines for his huge mistake and he feels terrible about it. Furthermore, he asked an apology to all the viewers that he disappointed as well. "It was an honest mistake," the host added.

His tweet was then retweeted 51,000 times. It has gotten a lot of feedback; others remained upset with him while others began to support him.

"To err is human... to forgive divine," said another Twitter user in reply to Mr. Harvey's apology. As reported on The Telegraph, the Miss Universe organization also asked an apology via Twitter.

It was a human error but as of the moment, Steve Harvey is the most hated man in Colombia. Was it really a huge mistake of Mr. Harvey? Or was he just carried away by the excitement? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
