'Downton Abbey' Christmas Special Spoilers: 5 Things To Know About The Final Episode

Downton Abbey is a British television drama series that has received awards from the Primetime Emmy Award as an Outstanding Miniseries or Movie and Golden Globe Award for Best Miniseries or Television Film. It was also acknowledged by the Guinness World records as the most seriously acclaimed English-language television series in 2011.

The drama unfolds the lives of the aristocratic of the Downton Abbey. These are the Crawley family that include Robert who is the Earl of Grantham, his wife who is an American heiress, their three daughters, and Robert's mother Violet. It also portrays the lives of their servants.

The award-winning drama has six series. The first series was aired on September 26, 2010. The fifth series was shown in autumn 2015 in Ireland and the UK. The sixth series was aired on ITV on September 20, 2015, and November 8, 2015. And the final episode will be presented on December 25, 2015. The final episode will depict happy reunions, love stories, and goodbye. IBT shared the followings things you can expect from the last episode:

A new character will be introduced on the wedding of Edith and Bertie. This is the mother (Patricia Hodge) of Bertie (Harry Hadden-Paton).

Rose (Lily James) will come home for a holiday after she went to America with Atticus in Season 5.

  • Celebrating New Year's Eve

Everyone is going to celebrate the New Year's Eve. Carson (James Carter) told the Mail on Sunday's Event Magazine in September, "All the servants are together in the hall."

  • Mary & Edith Getting Along at Last

Mary (Michelle Dockery) is building bridges with her sister Edith (Laura Carmichael) in this last episode.

  • Barrow's Exit

The Downton family team will miss Barrow as he bid goodbye. He said, "I arrived as a boy. I leave as a man." This will be an emotional one for the viewers.

According to CNN, the Downton Abbey's new season will be expected on Jan. 3, 2016. It is also shown on PBS in the United States.
