If you are one of the many people who are concerned that having kids will negatively affect your sex life, worry no more. According to a new study, most married couple's sex lives get better after having children.
More than a thousand couples participated in the survey conducted by the parenting site Channel Mum. Its survey shows that 94 percent of the couples were satisfied with their sex lives after having kids while 57 percent report better sex after having children.
Most of the couples who participated in the research still found their sex lives satisfying even though the quantity of sex declined after giving birth for many, with 58 percent experiencing a decline in the frequency of sex and only 28 percent experiencing an increase in frequency. More than 80 percent of the couples started to put more value in the quality of sex rather than the quantity after giving birth which made their sex lives more satisfying despite the decrease in quantity.
The research shows that although many women might feel less confident about their bodies after giving birth, many couples still find their sex lives better after having kids because many men prefer the curvier bodies of their partners as a result of giving birth. According to The Bump parenting site, mothers will also be able to cope better with their post-birth bodies by being positive and being grateful for having a child.
Siobhan Freegard, the founder of Channel Mum, says that "Having a baby is the biggest change you can bring into a relationship, so it is wonderful to see it can bring couples closer together rather than drive them apart."
The survey also shows that couples usually wait for an average of almost two months after giving birth before they engage again in sexual intercourse. Most of the couples also enjoy having regular date nights and many women try to lose their excess weight by being active and busy with their work or household chores.
It is time for people to stop worrying about their sex lives being ruined by having kids. The study shows that most couples find their sex lives better after having children by being more intimate with each other and by focusing more on the quality of sex rather than the quantity.
