Any mother would want to keep their child during the wintertime, but as always Kim Kardashian does it a little bit differently. Her daughter North recently battled the New York City winter with a fur coat that reportedly costs somewhere around $3,500 according to Kaufman Furs.
Kim simply wrote "swag" as the caption for her Instagram photo featuring the toddler in her fur coat. North also turned heads when she was seen in a black faux-fur cape back in 2014 when she couldn't even walk yet. The photo has already received over 1 million likes on Instagram with a lot of people commenting on how cute North looks in her coat.
This time, a lot of people believe that North's coat is made out of real fur, which has caught the attention of PETA. However, Kardashian's publicist has told the New York Post that the fur coat was a simply a gift.
This may seem extravagant to a lot of people out there, but there is actually a continuously growing market for what designers call "kiddie couture." In fact the director of Harrods', Michael Ward has recently told the Daily Mail that there is a kids version for virtually everything they feature on the runway during shows.
If you think that having these in the kids' section would make them cheaper, then you should definitely think twice. According to a report on Yahoo! Parenting, Dior silk crape dress designed for 8-year olds costs somewhere in the region of $5,670. Dior also has a wool felt coat that costs over $990.
Even infants can now dress couture. Fendi has a wool coat with a removable collar, which costs more than $1,000. Gucci's hoodie for 6 to 9-month olds would cost their parents $380. Although these items may seem very pricey, demand is growing partly due to the fact the children of celebrities sport these garments as well.
