Samsung and MasterCard are joining forces together to design a refrigerator model. Samsung Family Hub fridge features a 21.5 inch LCD touchscreen built into the door. The refrigerator is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi and will enable consumers to accomplish the same things they usually can do on their iPads. The smart app for the groceries cart will learn family's shopping habits and then suggest brands and items.
The new Samsung refrigerator has been announced at Las Vegas CES 2016 edition, according to NBC News. The final shopping list provides control over household purchases, being approved with a 4-digit pin. The items can be paid with any U.S.-issued debit or credit card. The orders will be directly delivered by merchants or could be picked up at a nearby store.
According to Forbes, the chief commercial officer at MasterCard Labs, Betty DeVita, declared that she already used the Samsung touchscreen fridge to order food for a company team-building party. The smart refrigerator proved a very popular with her team. She added that an order for $155 could be made in just three minutes and the user-friendly menu makes the gadget easy to use even for kids.
The fridge smart screen also provides drawings, charts, and schedules, as well as access to weather data in your home city or in multiple cities. Other features are messaging and an Internet browser. Owners of the new Samsung smart fridge can browse for recipes online, leave notes, pin photos or share and update calendars. The user experience is as convenient and easy as the one provided by a smartphone.
Samsung Family Hub refrigerator also comes with three built-in high-quality cameras that capture every time the door closes. Later on, users can access those images by just using a smartphone. This way they can take a look at their fridge's content and check what they need to add on their list even if they are already at the grocery store. The smart gadget also offers options to stream and play music via Bluetooth wireless speakers or through its built-in speaker.
