They say that the bond between a mother and her daughter is unbreakable, no matter what happens between them or how far apart they are from each other. This proved true for Mary Ann Ontiveros who was reunited with her mother after not seeing her for 25 years.
According to Little Things, Mary Ann's favourite show is "Person of Interest," which airs on CBS. However, she is not much of a fan of the evening news. On one faithful night, she fell asleep without turning off her television and she woke up to Brad Edwards running a profile on a woman.
The woman lived in a shack in the parking lot near Cook County Jail. That woman just happened to be her mother, Shirley. The shocking part is that they have not seen each other even once for the past 25 years.
Shirley asked for helped from anyone she can reach out to during the short 90-second news segment she was featured in. "I haven't seen her in 25 years, and I still love her," Shirley said about her daughter Mary Ann.
Her daughter was fortunately not the only one of Shirley's relatives to see the broadcast. Her sister Linda also saw it and immediately emailed Brad Edwards saying, "We been searching for her for 50 yrs. HELP HER."
CBS has ran an official story on the mother-daughter reunion stating that Shirley Bennett has seen her past week as "hectic" ever since news of her reached her daughter. Mary Ann took her mother back home with her as soon as possible. Sources say that the two became estranged after they had an argument. However, neither of them expected that they would not see each other for over 25 years just because of quarrelling with one another.
"It's heartbreaking when I saw the report, I just started crying. I haven't seen my mother in over 25 years, and I didn't know where she was," Mary Ann said.
