As the Royals gear up for the grand arrival of the latest member into the family, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were gifted a Finnish baby box that included condoms, by the Finnish government.
The expecting couple was given the box full of goodies by the Finnish social security service, Kela, the Mirror reported. The baby box had a snowsuit, leggings, colourful romper suits, a hooded bath towel, hairbrush, nappy cream and a teething toy.
The baby box is given to all the mothers-to-be in Finland and is known to have reduced infant mortality rates in the country, reported E! Online.
"Kela wanted to congratulate the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge," said Kela spokeswoman Heidi Liesivesi. "The maternity package gained such a positive response from all around the world. The timing was perfect that the royal couple are having a baby."
The baby box, when emptied, becomes as a sleeping box. A Kensington Palace spokesperson said that they were delighted to receive the maternity package gift from the Finnish government. "We were delighted to receive the very kind gift of the maternity package from the Finnish government. It was a very thoughtful gesture and we're very grateful for it," the spokesman told the BBC. "I'm sure the duke and duchess will be very interested to see the contents."
Other items in the baby box included bra pads, a picture book and muslin squares to help the expecting royal couple to handle the initial few weeks with their first child.
