"Suicide Squad" is just around the corner and a news update has arrived. Director David Ayer recently talked about his fresh take on the superhero movie genre, the new take on "The Joker" courtesy of Jared Leto, and the exciting appearance of "Batman" in the movie played by Ben Affleck.
With a couple of other high-profile superhero movies in 2016 such as "Batman V Superman: A Dawn of Justice", "Captain America: Civil War", "Deadpool", "Doctor Strange", and "X-Men: Apocalypse", DC Entertainment and Warner Brothers' Suicide Squad needed a little something to stand out from the rest.
"We all need good guys and everything - yay, good guys - but at the end of the day, they're kinda boring," the "Fury' director Ayer tells USA Today. "They're always going to do the right thing. When you're dealing with the baddies, it's easy to get ahead of the audience and invert expectations."
The director also described Jared Leto's performance as "The Joker" in the movie by saying that Leto is the king of "Planet Joker". And with the iconic super villain appearing in the movie, the equally iconic superhero "Batman" played by Ben Affleck cannot be far behind.
Ayer talks about Ben Affleck's Batman in Suicide Squad, ""We made him fight. He's awesome (as Batman). ... You really sense that but for the grace of God he himself would be doing some really foul stuff out in the world."
Affleck also talked to USA Today about filming his Batman scenes in Suicide Squad, "It felt like I have such a cool cousin. This thing that is so awesome is somehow related to me, and that was really exciting because it started to feel like a constellation of things, and I've never had that feeling."
According to Screen Rant, "Suicide Squad" will be released in North America on Aug. 5, 2016. The film was written and directed by David Ayer and starring Cara Delevingne as "Enchantress", Jai Courtney as "Captain Boomerang", Jared Leto as "The Joker", Joel Kinnaman as "Rick Flag", Margot Robbie as "Harley Quinn", Viola Davis as "Amanda Waller", Will Smith as "Deadshot", and Ben Affleck as "Batman."
