German Charity Service Big Fiasco Accidentally Served Good Quality Dog Food To Senior Citizens

German Charity Osnabrücker Tafel accidentally misread labels and served high-end dog food to senior citizens during Christmas. The citizens were really shocked about what happened.

According to Daily Meal, the said high-end dog foods were packaged in a glass jars labeled "from the land" and "meat dish in a glass". The glass also has labels describing its contents: "venison and potatoes with garden vegetables."

Apparently, the phrase "gourmet food for animals" was placed at the top of the jars written with small letters. It makes sense that the said elderly citizens didn't notice the label because of its small font size. Thus, the glass jars have complete serving instructions in feeding dogs as well.

It is reported that the glass jars were in premium packaging and maybe some of the seniors ignored the labels -- until one man cooked the puppy chow and noticed its very unpleasant smell. "Only upon the resulting smell did the person become suspicious and went for a magnifying glass," said one of the sources.

Meanwhile, the said German charity receives a lot of food supplies from its sponsors daily. They said that they sort the supplies first before distributing them to the families and citizens who are in need -- a similar service to Meals on Wheels.

However, such mix-up at a warehouse created an "embarrassing fiasco" for the said local charity meal delivery service. "Our warehouse manager sorts through many tonnes of groceries every day and it is possible that due to the design of the packaging, he did not notice," Dieter Möllmann, the outgoing chief of the charity, adding that he could unfortunately not rule out that others had also received the same dog food.

The charity also confirmed that the dog food label is on the glass jars but not that noticeable. They also said that the puppy chow is safe to human -- if in case, mistakenly consumed.
