"South Park" season 20 will reportedly air this September 21 and will focus on Mr. Garrison and Ms. Jenner's 2016 presidential race.
According to Yibada, if "South Park" will follow the trend in the past seasons, there is a high chance that episode 1 will air in the second half of September. The outlet noted that there has been a patter when it comes to the Comedy Central series.
The recent seasons all premiered in September: Season 17 on September 25, Season 18 on September 24 and Season 19 on September 16. Although it has yet to be confirmed that season 20 will air on September 21, multiple sources were convinced that this is the case.
According to iDigital Times, the animated series will most likely focus on the current issues, much similar to its earlier seasons. The outlet held that season 2 will have 10 episodes which will air for straight ten weeks. The show will no longer be split into two parts unlike before.
"South Park" co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker originally wanted to end the series but were convinced to return for another season, albeit a shorter one. Given that there are only fewer episodes, Stone and Parker were given the opportunity to work on their other projects.
"And you know what? As a result, we got the best season of South Park in ages, after several generally lackluster ones. It's worth the wait," the author said.
Although some were worried that season 20 may be its last season, Comedy Central confirmed that they have already renewed the show for three more years.
"The series remains as urgent and relevant now as the day it premiered and at nearly 20 seasons in it continues to draw generations of new fans," network president Michele Ganeless told IGN.
Much like in the earlier seasons, season 20 will most likely incorporate political themes into their storyline. It was even hinted that the animated series will be "politically correct" this time around, which many find hard to believe.
Apart from PC Principal's storyline, another interesting plot will definitely be Mr. Garrison and Ms. Jenner's bid for presidency.
