Music Icon David Bowie Dies At 69 Due To Cancer; Kat Dennings, Other Stars Pay Tribute

The world is mourning for the loss of a very talented singer David Bowie. The rockstar died at the age of 69 due to cancer on January 10 of this year, just two days after his birthday.

According to BBC, his son Duncan Jones officially announced his passing on Twitter saying, "David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer." Jones is a film director who is also asking everyone to respect their privacy as a family in this difficult time.

Lots of artists are saddened about this news that Twitter is filled with all of Hollywood's big names in the entertainment industry and their condolences for the late singer.

"David Bowie has been my musical north star my entire life. This hurts even more for people close to me. He will NEVER be surpassed, never," actress Kat Dennings tweeted.

Dennings' boyfriend and music artist also posted his sympathy to the late singer saying, "He never seemed of this earth. Now he's left it. He bent rules, gender, genres, and our minds. RIP David Bowie. One. Of. A. Kind."

Bowie was not an ordinary music artist. He was known for getting out of a usual artist's comfort zone. That said, he created an alter ego known as Ziggy Stardust who was so flamboyant that the world couldn't help but embraced him as well. He taught a lot of people to not be afraid to be whoever they want to be.

Born as David Robert Jones on January 8, he started making a name in the music business during the 70s. For more than 40 years, Bowie maintained his iconic image in the industry that there were even rumors of him working on an album in 2014. The Hollywood Reporter also covered the rock star's death and just like everyone else who followed the singer's work, he will be missed but his music lives one.
