'Empire' Cast, Spoilers & News Update: Taraji Henson On Winning the Golden Globe and Taking Down Homophobes

Star of the hit Fox series "Empire" Taraji P. Henson recently won the Golden Globe's for best actress in a TV, January 10. She has a very controversial character on the series being a mother of a gay R&B singer played by Jussie Smollett.

The show has gained a lot of fans not just from the storyline, but for the many interesting characters it has. It is still considered as a new comer on television, but because of the diversity that it promotes, lots of people became intrigued and glued their eyes on watching it every week. But, just like any other shows, its cast and production can't please everybody.

There are people who are not fond on the fact that it is somehow promoting the LGBTQ lifestyle. We're talking about homophobes, as they are still not open to the changes that are happening in our society. On that note, Henson has something to say to those homophobes.

In an interview she had with People Magazine regarding the said issue, Henson voiced out saying, "We ignore that. That's nonsense and that's fear, so we understand where that's coming from, so there's nothing to comment on that. The numbers speak for themselves."

She also pointed out that the whole casting of a gay character is not just a gimmick or a way to sensationalize the show. Rather, it is something that a lot of people are struggling with and it is only fitting that they help address that matter to the public through this kind of creativity and publicity.

"You can't make everybody happy, we don't try to. We just try to touch and affect lives and I think we have. We're always going to have haters, so here's to all my haters! I'll send you cookies, thanks," Henson added.
