Study: Skipping Breakfast Increases The Risk Of Stroke By 20 Percent

Eating your breakfast just before you head out to work or school wouldn't just give you the energy boost you need to function throughout the day, it will also make you healthier. A research from Osaka University found that those who start their day with an empty stomach are more at risk to suffer from stroke in the future.

According to NewsMax.com, the reseracher monitored the health and lifestye of 130,000 men and women aged 45 years and above in the span of 15 years. Out of the pool, a tota

l of 3,772 participants had a stroke while 870 were diagnosed with a heart disease.

The researchers found the link between not eating breakfast regularly and the increased risk of stroke. Those who ate breakfast consistently every morning have the lowest risk percentage but participants who consumed the first (and most important) mean of the day the least within a week increased their risk of stroke to up to 20 per cent.

The study published in the medical journal, "Stroke," did not detail exactly why skipping breakfast increases the risk especially of cerebral hemorrhage. Scientists speculate that not eating healthy food every morning causes high blood preassure and high cholesterol which are two factors that eventually lead to stroke.

The study did not find a direct link to consuming breakfast food in the morning and heart diseases, but, a few years back, the American Heart Association warned that starti

ng your day with an empty stomach might likely lead to death due to a heart attack in the future.

A report by Business Insider revealed that early morning meals "pays off" the nutritional and mental necessities of the body throughout the day in children a

nd in adults. However, of course, what you eat vastly inf

luences your health. A high-fiber meal of whole grain cereals and fresh fruits, for example, can lower the blood pressure and cholesterol level.
