Among the interesting new products presented at CES show was Dell's new Inspiron 11 3000. This is a laptop with excellent upgrading options that starts at a price of only $199.
Dell's take on the new-wave laptops is that users could configure it with a variety of extra options, while competitors do not offer this kind of options at all or offer just limited upgrades. The base Dell Inspiron 11 3000 model features an Atom-derived Celeron processor, 32GB of storage, 2GB of RAM and 2.4GHz 802.11n Wi-Fi.
Users have the option to upgrade the 32GB of flash storage to either 128GB SSD or a 500GB spinning hard drive. There will be available options also for 802.11ac Wi-Fi and 4GB RAM, as reported by Ars Technica. The processor could be upgraded as well to an Atom-derived Pentium CPU.
Dell Inspiron 11 3000 is an all-plastic laptop with an 11.6-inch 1366×768 TN display with an ergonomic keyboard that feels good for the price. The all-plastic design uses attractive colors and looks good for the price.
A top-end configuration with 128GB SSD and 4GB of RAM will provide enough storage and will be fast enough to serve as a primary system, according to CNET. However, for a fully specced version, users will have to pay twice the price of the base model. It is still unclear how much the other various configuration options will cost.
The base model comes with a microSD card slot, one full-sized HDMI port, an USB 2.0 port, one USB 3.0 port, and a headphone jack. With this kind of configuration connectivity of Dell Inspiron 11 3000 is on par with what other companies are offering.
Dell did not announce yet a a specific launch date for this model of laptop, but we expect it to be available soon. With this kind of price and upgrade options, it will be an interesting alternative to other cheap laptops launched last year.
