On Monday, an open letter on Facebook caught the attention of its users. Gaining 900 shares as of this writing, the said posting has become an online "head turner" to many.
Mary Ann Parisi, a mother of an 11-year old boy from Connecticut poured out her heartache through a powerful letter posted on social media after learning that her son is being bullied in school. The worst part of it was it did not happen just once, but the boy even told his teacher that he is getting used to it.
"That made me feel awful", she said. "It made me very angry because he shouldn't be getting used to it. He should not be OK with it. Bullying is not OK. It's not acceptable and you do not get used to it," Parisi stated in an interview with ABC News.
Michael was fortunate though that he had two friends who stood up for him during those repeated incidents. However, the boy had such a forgiving heart that he would not complain and just allow things to take place. He does not want trouble with anyone. Resilience is what his mother sees in him that makes him stay strong on the tough times.
Through the said Facebook post, Mary Ann sent her appeal to the abusers to stop calling her son names, stop kicking his chair, and telling him to shut up. The adoptive mother stated how Michael who was born prematurely fought for his life at his early age after being abandoned by his biological mother.
Mary Ann even detailed the struggles that Michael went through because of his physical condition and that his present state can be considered a breakthrough. She ended the letter addressing the bullies directly. She said that she is not asking them to like her boy, but she believes that Michael deserves respect just like any ordinary boy in the world, as reported by KSL.
