2-Year-Old Cancer Patient Gets Tonnes of Pizzas After her Plea Goes Viral on Internet

A Los Angeles hospital was flooded with pizzas after a 2-year-old cancer patient's fun request on a hospital window asking for pizza was posted by a user on Reddit.

Two-year-old Hazel Hammersley, who is undergoing chemotherapy, has neuroblastoma of the abdomen. She has the most common form of cancer in children below five years of age.

"We generally have a pretty good time here," Hazel's mother, Lauren Hammersley, told GoodMorningAmerica.com . "They have the playroom here on the floor, which she loves, and I bring bags of toys and things. But after some time, you get a little stir crazy."

Following this, the family came up with the crazy idea to tape a request for pizza on the hospital window. They posted, "SEND PIZZA RM 4112," on a window near Hazel's bed just for fun.

"Hazel was trying to wave to people in the street and nobody waved back, so we thought this was a fun way to just pass the time," Hammersley said. "We thought it would be fun and put a smile on someone's face. We never expected to get any pizza."

A passerby clicked the photo of the message and posted it on Reddit. The photo was an instant hit among Reddit users and soon pizzas started being delivered at the hospital. Hazel woke up from her nap to the aroma of fresh cheese pizza. She then had a blast with other children.

Hazel's mother said they were overwhelmed by the support. "The last time I spoke to the security guards, at 8 pm, on Saturday, more than 20 pizzas had been delivered. They just started distributing them to the nursing staff and all the other kids on the floor," she told ABC News.

It is still unclear for how long the little one will have to remain in the hospital. But her mother said that the pizza excitement made up Hazel's day. "At the moment," she, "she's doing really well."
