'LG G5' Release Date, Specs, Features & Rumors: LG Design To Challenge Samsung Galaxy S7

With the Mobile World Congress 2016 just a month away, rumors are rife on what will be and won't be unveiled. A popular favorite is Samsung unveiling Samsung Galaxy S7 with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor. The more recent buzz, however, places LG - the LG G5 to be exact, as the worthy challenger to Samsung Galaxy S7.

As Parent Herald reported, rumors project that revelation of Samsung Galaxy S7 at the Mobile World Congress in February will include the offer of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor. This Snapdragon version has been generating much hype, produced as it is using the second generation of Samsung's own 14nm FinFET process technology.

Wild or not, the rumors leaked regarding LG G5 is definitely worthy of attention. Based on an alleged G5 diagram, which appeared in AndroidAuthority, LG G5 will be on the narrow side compared to the older models but it will also be taller at 149.4 x 73.9 x 8.2 mm. It will feature a 5.6-inch QHD touchscreen.

LG G5 is reportedly moving away from its old look and going into a more groundbreaking form. According to Techno Buffalo, LG G5 will be completely metallic in build. Its power button at the back of the phone is going to be fitted with a fingerprint scanner.

GSM Arena reports that it will allegedly have 4GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. Phandroid said that it will have a pressure sensor and a heart sensor. Its speaker is bottom-facing. The LG G5 will support USB Type-C

Contrasting rumors have surfaced regarding the phone's battery, but an image leaked by CNET Korea points to a removable battery that slides out from the bottom of the phone.

LG's enigmatic press event invitations for the Mobile World Congress may hold some clues. Besides the time, date and venue of the event, the invitation also features an image of a music box captioned with "Play begins." Techno Buffalo says that TechRadar noted that the email text of the invitation actually mentions "LG's next flagship model."

The Mobile World Congress is scheduled for February 22 to 26 2016 in Barcelona, Spain.
