James Cameron's success as a director can be traced back to his very first mega blockbuster hit movie "The Titanic." Cameron ever since then has directed several films that delved into different categories, especially when he directed the very unique "Avatar", which took the whole world by storm due to the fact that it was ahead of its time in cinematic history. "Avatar" has since then broke many records in movie history and it has become the highest grossing film of all time.
So, it is no wonder that there will be a sequel to the ever successful "Avatar" and Cameron himself has spoken about "Avatar 2". Cameron has confirmed the release date of "Avatar 2" and two more "Avatar" films and according to him all of the films will be "meta-narrative".
Cameron revealed that "Avatar 2" will be released on 2017 and the other two "Avatar" movies will be released in the successive years. The "Avatar" film franchise, as explained by Cameron, will be "meta-narrative" meaning that the plots will all be different from each other but a certain story will link all four of the films for a much bigger story.
The fans are wondering what Cameron means but the director did not delve in too much on the plot lines. Although Cameron did reveal the "Avatar 2" will have new worlds within Pandora and that there will be new alien species as well.
"It's been a two-year task. [We've finished] all the creatures and the landscapes, and the new worlds within the world of Pandora that you see," Cameron stated. The story according to the Cameron's website is still in the process of being finished.
The original cast of "Avatar" will also be reprising their roles in "Avatar 2" including Jack Sully (Sam Worthington) and Nyetri (Zoe Saldana). "Avatar 2" is set to be released in theaters worldwide on Dec. 25, 2017.
